30 Day Challenge, Day 1

This is one of Cameron's favorite pictures of me, so I thought I'd put
this one up....

15 Facts About Me.
  • I didn't have a middle name until I got married. It is now Bethany Gentry Jacobs. I made up a middle name of Jane before I was married. I married the best person in this world. I am so thankful he loves me for me, and puts up with all my faults. I love you Cameron!
  •  I'm going to school for stenography/court reporting, therefore I know another language.
  •  I have moved 4 times in the last year. Show Low AZ to House 1 in California, House 1 to House 2 in California. House 2 to Apartment 1 in California, and Apartment 1 to Apartment 2 in California.
  •  I didn't move once the first 20 years of my life. Same house and everything.
  •  I was in a indie rock band, Alaska and Me, for 3 years in high school with 4 guys. I sang, played the keyboard, and played the tambourine. I recorded two different times with this band in a studio, and we went on tour. We went to New York for 2 weeks to record one of those albums. I had some amazing experiences and memories I will never forget during this time.
  •  I was Belle, the leading role, in our High School Musical Beauty and the Beast my sophomore year. I got the leading role as Polly Baker in our high school musical Crazy For You my senior year. This was another time in my life where I grew a lot, and found my passion for singing and performing.
  •  I am terrified to drive at night due to an elk running into me... It really did run into the side of my car and it's head flew up into my windshield. One of the scariest times of my life.
  •  I worked at Dairy Queen for a 1.5 years. One of the funnest jobs I had.
  •  I fell in the walk-in freezer at Dairy Queen, and got a minor concussion. I also tore my rotator cuff. I got surgery after I graduated High School on my shoulder because of that tear, and a bone spur I had. I had to do physical therapy for my shoulder, and that led me to my next job at White Mountain Physical Therapy where I worked for 1.5 years. I LOVED this job and the wonderful people I worked with.
  •  I am very competitive and love to play sports. I played fast pitch softball and was a pitcher. I love to play tennis and racquetball with my husband. I like to occasionally run. I am currently in a co-ed slow pitch softball league with my husband.
  •  I am a clean freak. I love to clean and I LOVE organizing. I hate clutter so much. I am so thankful that my husband is somewhat of a clean freak as well.
  •  I stress too much. I am trying to be better about it, but I still stress too much.
  •  I love to make my own cards. I do not like scrap-booking at all. I just like to try and use my creative side and make cards.
  •  I love to play video games. My husband and I play guitar hero on expert, and on hyper speed on expert. I love Super Mario Brothers for the Wii. That is when we argue the most, is when we play video games together, but it is still so much fun.
  •  I hate to cook, and am not good at it. I don't have much time to cook, and I always have a hard time eating what I cook. Especially if it has some kind of meat. It's hard for me to be playing/cooking with raw meat, then having to eat it later. It just grosses me out.

Happy Birthday Lydia!

Happy Birthday to my beautiful sister-in-law Lydia! She is the baby sister that I never had. She is so talented and has such a powerful voice (it runs in the family) I remember when I would go to their house and pretty much every time, Lydia would be singing at the top of her lungs. I loved it! I am so thankful that I married into such a wonderful family with wonderful people and am so thankful that I have a little sister to talk to. I hope you know Lydia that you can talk to me about anything and everything. I love you so much, and I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Stay true to yourself and have fun. You are amazing! (PS, we need MORE pictures!!!!)

Happy Birthday Daddy Dear!

It is my Dad's birthday today and I wish I could be with him to celebrate it. Instead, this is the best I can do and a card is on it's way to him. Dad, I am so, so, so thankful for you! I feel like I really took advantage of you, especially since I moved out of the house, it has been so hard. I miss just being like "Dad, I feel like singing this song." And no matter what, he would get it to work for my voice, and he would sit down at the piano and I would sing away. Those are probably some of my most precious memories. Listening to him play the piano always (even though it wasn't appreciated at midnight or 6 in the morning most of the time) and laughing at him when he couldn't hear me talking because he was listening to his classical musical too loud. I really am so proud to be the daughter of Scott Gentry, a music legend in the White Mountains in AZ and known throughout the state for his talents. I grew up around music because of him and my mom. I have grown to appreciate his love and knowledge of music as I have grown older to realize how much he really does understand. I wish I knew exactly how many concerts he has put on, how many musicals and plays he has done, how many times he was an accompanist. It's in the thousands and thousands I am sure. I love that I can play a little clip of ANY classical song and he can name the piece, the composer, even the measure sometimes. He is truly an inspiration, example, and amazing person.
I miss springtime when we would be up early working in the yard and getting it prepped and ready for summer. I loved being out in the yard with him and planting the garden. We both had the same goal to make the yard look gorgeous, and think we succeeded every summer.
I know Mom never liked Dad's late night trips to Safeway, KMart, or Walmart to get little candies or cookies, but I definitely did. That's another good memory I have. His sweet tooth.
This blog post wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention my dad and sleeping. We always joke with him about movies being good or not. You know it is a good movie if he didn't fall asleep once. He knows how to crochet and falls asleep on the corner of the couch watching TV and crocheting. I love it.
Anyways, I hope you have a great birthday Dad. I miss you so much and love you even more. I wish I could play Happy Birthday like you do on the piano:)

My wedding day...

I love this picture of him.

I am sad because this was the only picture we got together after my voice recital
back in June of 2009. All that work together, and this was the only picture we got! I could
not have done this without him.

Another picture I love. He was so supportive with my band Alaska and Me. Here he is
representing us well with one of our shirts:)

Sleeping during family game night... Haha.

I played this game before, he didn't. This was choir tour 2007 in Disneyland.

Beauty and the Beast my sophomore year. I couldn't do this without him either.
I tried to get some videos up from my recital for him playing and me singing, but the link was not working. So use this link to see the different videos that I have posted...

We were recently married on August 21, 2010 We started this blog as more of a journal for us to look back at all the good times. No matter what life brings us we are in this together and we couldn't be more happy about it. We are better together.
